Jess Wetherhold grew up on the eastern shores of Maryland & Delaware. Her love for
woodworking began as a child, while watching her father, Kent, a woodworking
hobbyist. The two started J & K Customs of Newark, Delaware, in 2002 where they
specialized in building and refinishing furniture.
During this time, Jess discovered a love and talent for woodturning. With
the help of her friend Bob Barnes, Jess developed her turning skills. When she moved
to California in 2006 she started A-Skewed Creations and now
focuses on woodworking full-time. She especially enjoys turning bowls and
vases, and finds her inspiration in the form and patterns of raw woods.
Jess lives in San Diego with her partner, their terrorizer mix, and two
cats. She is a member of the American Association of Woodturners, and is a
frequent contributor to on-line woodworking forums.
